ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team continued nonconference play against Sterling on Monday, falling 7-2 and moving to 3-9 on the season. Sophomore Owen Haas helped secure two points for the Hubs, defeating Carter Morris 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles and teaming up with junior Peter Forsberg to take down Morris and Benjamin Boze 7-6(4), 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.

Juniors Devansh Patel and Jason Zheng fell 5-7, 1-6 against Luke Valentino and Carter Ryan at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore David Wanner and junior Alex Gilbert lost 2-6, 4-6 against Brecken Peterson and Kayden Loos at No. 2 doubles. Peterson swept Wanner 0-6, 0-6 at No. 1 singles and Gilbert was handed an 0-6, 0-6 loss against Connor Pham at No. 2 singles.

Zheng and Patel battled at No. 3 singles and No. 4 singles, falling 2-6, 2-6 against Valentino and 1-6, 2-6 against Ryan, respectively. Forsberg faced Loos at No. 5 singles, losing 4-6, 1-6.
