ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team faced Rockford Lutheran on Tuesday, falling 3-1 in a rain-shortened nonconference match. Juniors Alex Gilbert and Peter Forsberg secured the lone point for the Hubs (0-4), defeating Gregory Julius and Jake Gustafson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Rochelle will host Morris on Thursday before battling Freeport at home on Saturday.
Sophomore David Wanner faced Tyler Brinkmeyer at No. 1 singles, falling 5-7, 3-5 after the second set was called due to weather. Junior Devansh Patel lost 2-6, 1-6 against Benjamin Temple at No. 2 singles, while sophomore Nolan Fonfara dropped the No. 3 singles match against Josiah Clay 5-7, 1-2. The second set was also called due to weather conditions.
