RIVER FOREST — The St. Paul Lutheran School boys track team competed in the 2025 LSA State Championship at Concordia University Chicago this past weekend. The team placed 10th out of 32 scoring schools.
The team of Axel Alsop, Reed Rowley, Esam Farraj and Joey Chadwick finished third in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:24.44 (Jimmy Chadwick was the alternate for the relay). Joey Chadwick won the third place medal in the 800-meter run (2:20.92) while taking 10th in the long jump (4.42 meters) and 10th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.02).
Esam Farraj finished sixth in the triple jump (9.76 meters), seventh in the 800-meter run (2:25.61) and eighth in the 1600-meter run (5:16.14). Ty Vongsiri placed 12th in the long jump with a leap of 4.38 meters.
Vinny Tornabene had a stellar sprinting season and qualified for the state meet in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, shot put and long jump. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in the days leading up to the meet, and he was unable to compete.
