ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring the Merry & Bright holiday decorating contest for homes and businesses in the community. 

"We are always thrilled to sponsor this event that celebrates so much of the small town feel in Rochelle,” Chamber Executive Director Tricia Herrera said. “We love to see all the fun and festive entries in both categories and know that this year will be no exception We feel that Christmas lights just make people smile." 

The judging for businesses will be held on Dec. 6 in conjunction with the Old Fashioned Christmas Walk. Any business that would like to be registered for the contest should email the chamber (rochellechamber@gmail.com) with business information and a photo. First, second, and third places will be given.

Entries for the residential category will be chosen by a volunteer panel and announced via social media on Dec. 23. First, second, and third place will be given along with the coveted "People's Choice" winner. The People's Choice winner will be chosen via a vote on photos posted on the chamber Facebook page. Photos will be posted for voting the week of Dec. 15. Entry to the contest is done by emailing the chamber with address, homeowners name/phone number (if available) and a photo.
