Consider this: It’s up to us

I first want to apologize for all the doom and gloom.  But we do have options.  We still have a legislative branch that can do many things to change any outcome we see.  We need to push them into doing the job we elected them to do.  They have the option to conduct themselves as they were sworn in and follow the rules in the Constitution they were sworn to follow.  Will this be enough, and will they have time?  I pray so.

I pray so.

What happens when a President defies a Supreme Court ruling?  Does this tie a rope around our Constitution’s neck?  Does this mean that the individual is already deceased so that’s the real reason that there is nothing we can do?  Is our cherished Constitution now gone; once created to rid ourselves of a king, now gone because of a man that wants to be king, or something worse?

We can sit here and bemoan our situation.  Though there were alternative facts and lies told to us in the past, most of what we were told would be done has come true.  Was it these alternative facts and lies that put us into this situation?  Was it a political party that brought on this situation?  Was it a supreme court ruling that said a President can do no wrong when in office doing official things?  No, I say it was us, the voters of this country.  We brewed this situation from the beginning, and it was too late when the ready light came on.

We didn’t pay attention, and a few of us didn’t care.  We were just tired of things as they were.  Nothing getting done.  Each side doing things to show up the other.  As if they were each saying I call the shots and will show you what I mean.  Of course, we were the ones that kept reelecting these people that were doing nothing or doing what was wrong.  In a democracy, that is what happens.  It is all on our shoulders and can only be blamed on us.  So, one party wins, and one loses.  But all the heartache is ours, individually.

Maybe, it’s because some of us want to be dictated to.  Told what to do.  How to act.  Be free from all those worries concerning our everyday existence.  Have we gotten so soft from this boon of industry and technology that we have become that lazy?  Have we been paralyzed through social media to think hate is good or fabrication is our goal even over loving/helping our neighbor?  Maybe it’s simply all about that statement my grandfather used to make periodically that “greed is the root of all evil”.  We have forgotten that these freedoms, and yes, they are freedoms, may be gone if we close our eyes too long.

I have loved this country because we have freedom.  To say what we want to without retaliation of our government.  Now, this freedom is being challenged.  To make decisions that affect only us individually.  Another freedom challenged, and in some cases, already overruled.  I have loved our nation of laws, but they are being challenged, sometimes overruled, or just being thwarted by processes that delay, delay, delay.  And our freedom of or from religion?  That is being chipped away almost daily by those that say they practice it seemingly without the benefit, or at least the beneficial passages, of the Bible.

That was another reason for building our Constitutional government.  Does anyone want to go back to the country we lived in during the 18th century before our Constitution?  Maybe, the British had it right, and we are just wanting to be Brits?  But they have their own problems now.  I hope no one is cheering on our current government while thinking this.

I could go on about the freedoms, the life we knew, or the safety we had, as a country.  Yet even that safety is being challenged.  Other countries are severing ties, leaving us by ourselves, because we have recently been telling them this is what we want.  Our tariffs, our quest for Greenland, Canada, and even little Panama have revealed this.  We may say we still have the mightiest military in the world that will protect us.  But we call them losers and begin removing all the help we usually give them after they have served.  We say to them that unless they are male, from birth, and not gay, then we will take them.  With this happening, we are going to be hard pressed to keep a volunteer military.  Are we ready for the next draft?  What happened with the last draft?

We do, as I said, have options.  It is up to us, and us only.  Can we do this?  Do we have the backbone?  Will we do it in time?
