A John Deer Farm tractor pulling a hay wagon was traveling westbound on Montague Road attempting to make a left turn into a field entrance when a Lincoln Town Car also traveling westbound attempted to pass the John Deer Tractor. The John Deer Tractor and the Lincoln Town Car collided on the south side of the road. The driver of the Lincoln Town Car, Gerald R. Diedrich, 83, of Pecatonica, was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital by the German Valley ambulance with a head injury. The driver of the John Deer Tractor, Benjamin J. Miller, 34, of German Valley, was uninjured in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
On June 12, Rhonda S. Conderman, 55, of Monroe Center, was arrested for two outstanding Ogle County warrants for forgery and identity theft. Conderman was unable to post the $10,000/10 percent and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Conderman was scheduled to appear in court June 15.
On June 12 at approximately 2:31 p.m. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Front Street and Walnut Street in Byron. On June 13 at approximately 1:03 p.m., deputies responded to a two-vehicle head on accident with injuries in the 2,000 block of N. Illinois Route 2.  Upon arrival, deputies learned a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dakota Miller, 18, of Milledgeville, was traveling southbound in the 2,000 block of North Illinois Route 2.  Miller then traveled into the northbound lane before correcting back into his lane of travel. At the same time a 2015 Ford SUV driven by Melvin Cater, 61, of Oregon, was traveling northbound in the 2,000 block of North IL Route 2 when he observed Miller’s vehicle travel into his lane. Cater attempted to swerve to avoid Miller, but they struck head on causing both vehicles to sustain heavy damage. Cater was later transported to Riverside Hospital in Rockford by Oregon EMS for minor injuries. Cater’s passenger, Julie Cater, 60, of Oregon was transported to Riverside Hospital in Rockford by React Helicopter for non-life-threatening injuries.  Miller was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford for non-life-threatening injuries by Mt. Morris EMS. Miller was later issued a citation for improper lane usage.  The accident remains under investigation.
