Dedication, ordiance top village agenda

CRESTON – During the monthly board meeting, Creston village trustee Greg Hopkins stood in as village president for Wayne Williams.
The meeting began with village inspector Casper Manheim informing board members that the Moose Knuckle Bar and Grill is expected be open next week for drinks and bar snacks. The kitchen will not yet be open, as more work still needs to be completed on the exhaust hood.
The next item on the agenda was discussing what the village would like to do as a dedication to William Heal, founding member of the Creston Booster Club and a prominent member in the community. The village has discussed ideas such as a plaque on the inside of the village hall, as well as a bench placed at Booster Park. The board asked son, Jason Heal, and daughter, Jan Heal, to attend the meeting to help share their thoughts as well.

“We knew we wanted to have something dedicated to him, whether that be a bench, a plaque or anything like that,” Jan said.
“You can put his name anywhere in this town and dad had a part in it, he was involved in it all,” Jason Heal said.
Board members Tom Byro and the Heal family will work together on the dedication project.
The next item on the agenda was reviewing the new golf cart ordinance before a decision is made at next month’s meeting.
“I just wanted to have the board consider the UTVs and other vehicles that are being allowed in other communities,” village clerk Deanne Haub said. “It has been 10 years since it has been updated.”
The final item of discussion was the upcoming 2021 election. The village president, village clerk and village trustees Curt Ward, Steve Katzman and Mike Misch are up for election. The county clerk does not currently have all the documents ready yet, but they will be available online by Sept. 22. Following that date, members running for election can begin gathering signatures which are due by Dec. 14. The village clerk will post information on the village Facebook and website when everything is ready.
