Deputies arrest couple on DUI charges

On June 30 at approximately 11:01 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies performed a traffic stop on Lost Nation Road just into Lee County. After investigation, deputies placed Brandon Barber, 35, of Rochelle, under arrest for driving while license suspended. Barber was also issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. Barber was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
On June 30 at approximately 12:18 a.m., deputies responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of East IL Route 72 and Marrill Road. After a short investigation, Michael Peterson and Dena Peterson were placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Michael was also issued citations for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Dena was issued a citation for unlawful parking. Michael and Dena were both transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were released to correctional staff and held in lieu of bond.
On June 28, the following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:
Martin Chavez, 38, of DeKalb, for failure to Appear. Chavez has a bond of $2,366 full cash and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Chavez was scheduled to appear in court July 1.
Jaime Carter, 38, of Oregon, for drug court sanctions. Carter has no bond and was scheduled to appear in court July 1.

Dan Knaub, 31, of Leaf River, for two separate warrants. The first one for failure to appear with a $350 full cash and the second one for petition to revoke probation. Knaub posted the $350 full cash bond and was released on $5,000 recognizance bond for the petition to revoke probation warrant. Knaub will appear in court on Aug. 12.
Rusty Barnes, 47, of Stillman Valley, for theft. Barnes was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond and will appear in court on July 31.
June 29
On June 29 at 10:23 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop at IL Route 64 and Chana Road.  After a short investigation deputies arrested Nicholas W. Gillis, 41, of Big Rock, for DUI.  Gillis was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
July 1
On July 1 at 6:30 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office along with the Monroe Center, Davis Junction and Kirkland Fire Department ambulances responded to a two vehicle crash at Mulford Road and IL Route 72. Investigation by deputies revealed that a Hyundai driven by Tommie Roberts, 58, of Cortland, had been traveling south on Mulford Road and then failed to yield after stopping at the IL Route 72 intersection. As a result, the Hyundai was struck by a eastbound Chevrolet van driven by Rogelio Guerra, 37, of Belvidere. Roberts was transported by ambulance to Kishwaukee Hospital and Guerra was transported by ambulance to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital. The injuries to Roberts and Guerra appeared to be minor and non life threatening. Roberts was cited for failure to yield.
July 2
On July 2 at approximately 12:33 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Meridian Road for an equipment violation. After a short investigation deputies arrested Eric Post, 26, of Byron, for driving while license suspended. Post was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
