ROCHELLE — Douglas Glenn Zuehl, age 90 passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Rochelle Community Hospital. He was born April 18, 1934 in Two Rivers WI, the son of William and Etta (Allie) Zuehl. Doug married Swanetta Anderson on June 9, 1956 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church. He retired as a warehouse superintendent at DelMonte Foods. His DelMonte career started in Rochelle, took him to Clearfield, Utah ending in Mendota, IL. He served 22 years of service on the Ogle County Board as a member and Chairman of the Ogle County Board of Review 1990-2011. He served on the GREDCO Board of Directors 1995-2015. Doug loved spending time with his family and friends, whether that was neighborhood parties, camping nearly every weekend when the kids were younger, later at the Lake home in Wisconsin, or wintering in Marco Island, Florida, and later in South Padre Island, Texas. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and went to as many local high school football playoff games as he could. Doug always enjoyed going on long country road drives, many of which were to count how many deer they would see or how new home construction was coming along. He loved attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Doug was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, served as Chairman of Pastor Parrish, Rochelle Golden K, and was a lifetime member of Rochelle
Masonic Lodge 244 serving as Grand Master in 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Valerie Rocheleau; 2 brothers: Roger and Vernon Zuehl, granddaughter, Michaela Myers; great-great granddaughter, Bella Escatel, and son-in-law, Tim Doyle.
He is survived by his wife, Swanetta “Swan” of Rochelle; 4 daughters Teri (Brad) Dickey of Rochelle, Susan (Dave) Myers of Gallatin, TN, Lori Doyle of Ft Myers Beach, FL, and Vicki (Jim) Tuschen of Rockford; 10 grandchildren Jared (Jodi) Dickey, Jeff (Diana) Dickey, Andrea (Mark) Boren, Calianne (Jason) Hufford, Vanessa (Jovani) Myers, Shane Doyle, Mike Doyle, Ben (Shawnna) Doyle, Keane Tuschen, Thomas “TAZ” Tuschen; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, Nov 25, 2024 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle, IL, with a Masonic Service at 7 PM. Funeral service will be on Tuesday Nov 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Hutchinson and Rev. Dr. Katherine Paisley.
