ROCHELLE — Foundation for Focus House recently released the names of four area students that will be receiving scholarships from its 2025 application cycle.
The LaVerne and Margaret Franklin Adams Scholarship awards two $1,000 scholarships each year to Ogle County residents or past/current Focus House residents pursuing post-secondary or vocational education that have made a positive change in themselves or their community. A third $1,000 scholarship was awarded this year.
The David and Jean Tess Scholarship awards a $1,500 scholarship to Ogle County residents or past/current Focus House residents pursuing post-secondary or vocational education that have made a positive change in themselves or their community.
The Foundation for Focus House received a record number of scholarship applications this year.
Riley Jamieson, a graduating senior at Oregon High School, was awarded the LaVerne and Margaret Franklin Adams Scholarship. She plans to attend Illinois State University and major in business administration.
Michael Orlando, a graduating senior at Stillman Valley High School, was awarded the LaVerne and Margaret Franklin Adams Scholarship. He plans to attend Indiana State University and study aviation and work to get his pilot’s license.
Myah Ackeberg, a graduating senior at Polo High School, was awarded the LaVerne and Margaret Franklin Adams Scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Missouri and complete a double major in theatre design and textile/apparel management.
Addison Friestad was awarded the David and Jean Tess Scholarship. She graduated from Kishwaukee Community College with an associate’s degree in science and plans to attend Northern Illinois University this fall majoring in elementary education with an emphasis on early education and getting her special education endorsement.
The Foundation for Focus House extends its heartfelt congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients and commends all applicants for their commitment to personal growth and community impact. These scholarships not only recognize academic and personal achievements but also support the mission of Focus House in fostering positive change in the lives of young people.
