ROCHELLE — George A. Reif, 85, passed away on Wednesday March 2 at Liberty Court in Dixon with his loving family at his side. He was born on Oct. 4, 1936 in Compton, the son of Henry and Maxine (Bauer) Reif. George married Margaret Ann Spragle on Feb. 9, 1958 at the Reynolds United Methodist Church in Ashton. He farmed for over 33 years in the Ashton area. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. George also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Over the years, George and Margaret enjoyed traveling 25 times to Cancun, and also wintered in Texas for five years. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Hinrichs.

Survived by his wife, Margaret, three children: Jeff (Shirley) Reif of Rochelle, Jeanne (DJ) Sheridan of Dixon, and Kathy (Tom) Elliott of Dixon; eight grandchildren: Travis Elliott, Tyler (Ashley) Elliott, Danielle (James) Ellis, John Sheridan, Adam (Kelsey) Reif, Emily Reif, Randi (Brady) Revenig and Shaunna Sheridan and eight great grandchildren: Lucas Sheridan, Braeden and Maddy Ellis, Emmitt and Damon Sheridan, Addison and Riley Revenig and Brooklyn Reif.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Funeral will be on Monday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Pastor Katherine Paisley and Rev. Glen Stewart officiating. Cremation will follow services.
