DEKALB — Junior Kylie McCullough fired a match-best 611 series to fuel the Rochelle Lady Hubs during their Interstate 8 varsity bowling contest against Sycamore at Mardi Gras Lanes.
Senior Cassidy Vincent rolled a 551 series and sophomore Ava Norris bowled a 503 series for the Lady Hubs, who ended a five-match losing streak with a 2,642-2,408 win over the Spartans on Wednesday evening. It was also the first Interstate 8 victory of the season for the Lady Hubs (2-5, 1-3 Interstate 8), who returned home for a match against Streator on Thursday evening.
Rochelle took the opening game 853-763, with McCullough shooting a 193 and Vincent adding a 192 to lead the Lady Hubs while Kaitlyn Doerner scored a 180 on the Sycamore side. The Lady Hubs claimed the second game 881-837 behind a series-best 224 from McCullough and a series-best 180 from Norris. Doerner led the Spartans with 195 and Katrina Wiegel had 189.
Rochelle clinched the conference sweep with a 908-808 win in the third game, where McCullough launched a 194 and Vincent led the Lady Hubs with a series-best 223. Norris rolled a 179 to aid the Rochelle side, which also saw sophomore Magaly Belmonte shoot a 124 to finish with a 394 series. Weigel bowled a 206 and Kaitlin Ryder added a 168 for the Spartans.
