MORRIS — Freshman Abigail Dougherty booted in her first career varsity goal on Monday, when the Rochelle Lady Hubs faced off against Morris in Interstate 8 Conference action.
While Morris scored the first goal of the match, taking a 1-0 lead during the fourth minute, Rochelle found an equalizer in the 10th minute, when Dougherty cashed in an unassisted goal to even the score early in the first half. Although the Lady Hubs outshot Morris 14-5, Rochelle was unable to take control of the match, as Morris scored a pair of goals to hand the Lady Hubs a 3-1 loss. Rochelle (5-7, 0-3 Interstate 8) will host LaSalle-Peru at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Morris broke the 1-1 draw with goals in the 25th and 40th minutes. Senior Makayla Lara finished with nine shots and five shots on goal, while senior Jeanette Valle added two shots on goal. Junior Deissy Torres recorded two saves for the Lady Hubs, who totaled 10 shots on goal.
