MACHESNEY PARK — The Rochelle Lady Hubs kicked off their varsity soccer season with a nonconference road match against Harlem on Friday evening. Senior midfielder/forward Makayla Lara posted a team-high five shots on goal for the Lady Hubs, who were unable to score during their 7-0 loss to the Huskies.
Sophomore goalkeeper Yana Bartkiv recorded two saves for the Lady Hubs (0-1, 0-0 Interstate 8), who will return to action with a home match against Stillman Valley on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Senior defender Betty Flores totaled two shots and one shot on goal, while three players including freshmen Morgan DeLille, Natalie Foster and Evelyn Garcia totaled one shot in the match.
