The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team returned to Sycamore for the Gary Egler Invitational on Tuesday, March 18. The varsity girls finished sixth out of 13 schools with 35 points, while the junior varsity girls took fifth out of 12 schools with 36 points in the meet.

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team returned to Sycamore for the Gary Egler Invitational on Tuesday, March 18. The varsity girls finished sixth out of 13 schools with 35 points, while the junior varsity girls took fifth out of 12 schools with 36 points in the meet.
Varsity
Senior Erin Murphy earned Rochelle’s top finish in the field events, taking third in the shot put with a throw of 10.07 meters. Senior Dempsey Atkinson and sophomore Elyse Manning each earned fourth-place finishes in the field events, with Atkinson clearing 1.47 meters in the high jump and Manning leaping 9.65 meters in the triple jump. Sophomore Jasmine Walsh led the Lady Hubs in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing in fifth place with a time of 10.75 seconds.
Rochelle finished ninth or better in each of the three relay races. The Lady Hubs took third in the 3200-meter relay (Rose Luxton, Kyrie Cragin, Carol Carpenter and Brisa Zepeda) with a time of 11:46.28 and fifth in the 1600-meter relay (Kyrie Cragin, Jasmine Walsh, Elyse Manning and Gwendolyn O’Dell) with a time of 4:44.17. The Lady Hubs placed ninth in the 640-meter relay (Alex Neece, Katie Toczylowski, Ryelee Bogle and Zoe Malley) with a time of 1:36.87.
Rochelle fared well in the distance events, where sophomore Vivian Worthington took second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 15:22.28 and freshman Carol Carpenter finished fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:11.62. Junior Rose Luxton led Rochelle in the middle distance area, placing sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:54.01. Freshman Gwendolyn O’Dell earned Rochelle’s best finish in the sprints, taking seventh in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.99 seconds. Senior Alex Neece ran a 30.68-second time for ninth in the 200-meter dash.
JV
Freshman Zoey Schabacker led the JV squad in the field events, finishing third in the triple jump with a distance of 8.67 meters. Rochelle shined in the relays, taking second in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 13:09.81. The Lady Hubs ran a 5:09.68 for fourth in the 1600-meter relay (Brisa Zepeda, Arline Villanueva, Marley Cherry and Rose Luxton) after posting a 1:38.62 in the 640-meter relay (Kaliyah Cathina, Trinity Jones, Dylan Etes and Reese Kissack) for fifth.
Junior Sam Overton and freshman Emma Metzger went fifth and sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with times of 11.66 and 11.75 seconds. In the distance and middle-distance areas, sophomore Lydia Von Haden took second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 7:28.58, while senior Brisa Zepeda and freshman Marley Cherry went fourth and sixth with times of 3:05.47 and 3:11.87 in the 800-meter run. In the sprints, sophomore Dylan Etes ran a 31.48-second time for seventh in the 200-meter dash, while freshman Zoey Schabacker and sophomore Ashley Christy went seventh and eighth in the 55-meter dash with respective times of 8.34 and 8.47 seconds.
