ROCHELLE — Junior Megan Thiravong entered this week leading the Interstate 8 Conference in points. Thiravong continued to play well when the Rochelle golf team hosted Morris at Fairways on Tuesday, shooting 41 to lead all Hub players in the team’s 168-198 loss to the Redskins. Junior Reese Kirk added 44 for the Hubs, who moved to 6-7 overall after the match.
Rochelle will host the I-8 Girls Conference Championship at Fairways on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The I-8 Boys Conference Championship will tee off at Bliss Creek on Monday, Sept. 30.
ACC Charger Invite
Rochelle took 11th place out of 20 high school teams with a score of 364 in the Aurora Central Catholic Charger Invitational at Phillips Golf Course this past Saturday. Megan Thiravong finished in the top 20 with an 18-hole round of 84, while freshman Griffin Ohlinger carded 91 and Reese Kirk added 92. Sophomore Brett Ferguson totaled 97.
