ROCHELLE — Harold Richard Gosse, 84, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois.  Harold was born on July 31, 1940 to Harvey and Ethel (Firth) Gosse in Independence, Iowa. He served with the United States Marines from June of 1958 to June of 1961. On October 7, 1961, he married Patricia Price in Independence, IA.

Harold loved spending time with family and friends.  In his younger years, he enjoyed snowmobiling.  Harold also enjoyed boating in Wisconsin, spending winters in Florida and his patio chats with family and neighbors.  As an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and NASCAR, he was known to cheer on and coach his teams from his family room armchair.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia of Rochelle: his daughter, Angela (Dennis) Byrd of Rochelle, IL; daughter-in-law, Leanne (McGee) Gosse of Rochelle; sisters-in-laws, Diana Price, Linda Hummel, and Linda Martin Gosse all of Independence, IA; six grandchildren: Kristen (Jason) Curtis, Joshua (special friend, Michelle) Byrd, Nick Gosse, Zak Wood, Sawyer and Declan McGee; and three great grandchildren: Justin, Jayden and Jack Curtis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Gosse on January 16, 1988; brother, Donald (Jo) Gosse; and sister, Lois (Dave) Hagedorn.

The visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, 14206 E. Flagg Rd., Rochelle with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating.  The burial will follow at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee- Ogle Honor Guard and the Marine Honor Guard.  Memorials may be made in Harold’s memory to Faith Lutheran Church or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
