ROCHELLE — Helen Lenora Wheeler, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at her home in Rochelle, IL with her family at her side. Helen was born on September 20, 1931, in Wayne City, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Lillie (Shreve) Brady. Helen worked as a telephone operator in Wayne City, IL, lived on a Dairy Farm in Hinckley, then worked as a seamstress at Brody’s Coat Factory in DeKalb, and was a home maker. On June 3, 1950, she married John Wheeler, Jr. in Mt. Vernon, IL. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
Helen is survived by eight children: Terry (Connie) Wheeler, Sr. of Cortland, IL, Brenda (Dale) Satterlee of Houston, TX, Sandi Johanning of Rochelle, Cheryl Wheeler of Houston, TX, Patti (John Slott) Braffet of Leland, IL, Norma Wheeler of Houston, TX, Jordan (Luisa) Wheeler of Houston, TX and Max (Brittney) Wheeler of Rochelle; 13 grandchildren; one step grandson, several great grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Judy Williams officiating. The visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M., Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will follow at Flagg Center Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial will be established.
