ROCHELLE — Helen Rose Strawbridge, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Maple Crest Nursing Center in Belvidere, IL. She was born on March 2, 1934 in Cass County Missouri, the daughter of Mitchel and Ethel (Hamby) Watson. She graduated from Malta High School. Helen married Neil H. Strawbridge on November 29, 1953 at the Grove Street Baptist Church in DeKalb, IL, he preceded her in death on February 19, 2003. Prior to retiring, she worked as a secretary at Rochelle Printing. Helen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, making ceramic pottery at home, family gatherings at the river front cabin, and loved creating those precious memories. Most important of all, was her faith in the Lord Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters: Doris Hoard and Beverly Bright.
Survived by her two sons: Neil (Pat) Strawbridge of Machesney Park, IL, and Craig (Nadine) Strawbridge of Monroe, TN; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her brother, Bob (Fay) Watson.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle with Rev. Richard Woodruff officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM - 12 noon prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at the Steward Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice. Guest book at UngerHorner.com.
