ROCHELLE — The Flagg Township Museum will turn on the historic Iron Fountain at the museum on Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m. This is the official opening and turning on of the fountain for the season. The museum is grateful to the city for maintaining the water line for the fountain and keeping it in good repair.
This special program is an opportunity to learn the history behind the Iron Fountain, to learn about Laura Fesler who brought the Iron Fountain to Rochelle, and to learn about the previous locations of the fountain.
Light refreshments will be available on Saturday and drinks of water for man or beast from the Iron Fountain are always available when the museum is open, Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The mission of the Flagg Township Historical Society and Museum is to stimulate interest in Flagg Township history through education, research, collection and preservation of information for the benefit of the public of today and in the future.
