CARROLLTON, Texas — Jay Alan Friestad, 61, passed away in Carrollton, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 with his family at his side.
He was born Feb. 10, 1958 in Rochelle to Wayne and Carol (Furman) Friestad.  Jay graduated from St. Paul Lutheran School in 1972, Rochelle Township High School in 1976 and Augustana College in 1981.
He married the love of his life, Debra Smith, on Dec. 27, 1984. They moved to Plano, Texas, in 1991, where his family still resides.
Jay was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle and Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Debra, of Plano, Texas; parents, Wayne and Carol Friestad of Rochelle; brother, Dave (Kate) Friestad of Rochelle; children, Melissa (Brandon) Porath of Katy, Texas, Brent Harrolle of Flower Mound, Texas, and JJ Friestad of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon II, Austin, Isaac, Julia Porath, Daniel Harrolle; and a host of extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends in Rochelle at a later date.
