Junior Tackle: Rochelle teams win two games at Oregon

Eighth-graders finish regular season undefeated, fifth-graders earn fifth victory

OREGON — The Rochelle Junior Tackle teams concluded the regular season with road games against the Oregon Junior Hawks on Saturday afternoon. The eighth-graders remained undefeated and qualified to host the Big 14 Conference title game, while the fifth-graders earned their fifth win and the seventh-graders took a forfeit. 

8th Grade

Rochelle rolled over Oregon 34-0 to move to 8-0 on the season. Kyler Rowe rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, while Joey Chadwick rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Riley Smith and Nolan Zick each added rushing touchdowns on offense.

Ben Morris and Kyler Rowe each had two tackles for loss, while Gavyn Foster recorded one sack and Frankie Hernandez totaled four tackles. The Junior Hubs will host the conference championship game against Dixon on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11:15 a.m. 

7th Grade

Rochelle received a forfeit from Oregon to move to 2-6 on the season. The Junior Hubs will face LaSalle-Peru in Princeton on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. for seventh place in the conference this season. 

6th Grade

Rochelle fell against Oregon 14-0 to move to 4-3-1 on the season. The Junior Hubs will face Stillman Valley in Sterling on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12:30 p.m. for fifth place in the conference this season.

5th Grade

Rochelle moved to 5-3 on the season with a 22-0 victory over Oregon. Michael Vaughn rushed for two touchdowns, while Braxton Ellison  added a 24-yard touchdown run.  The Junior Hubs will face Rockton in Sterling on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1:45 p.m. for fifth place in the conference.
