ROCHELLE — Jyoti Patel and Dipak Patel, beloved parents, devoted grandparents, and cherished members of their community, passed away together on Friday, January 17, 2025. Both were 67 years old.
Jyoti Patel, born on August 4, 1957, in Ode, Gujarat, India, was the youngest of eight children. Jyoti relished the role of the fun-loving and playful baby of her family and will be remembered for her warm, funny, and nurturing personality.
Dipak Patel, born on March 2, 1957, in Nar, Gujarat, India, was the eldest of three children. He grew up on the grounds of Gujarat Agricultural University, where his father was a professor, and went on to earn a degree in engineering from BVM Engineering College near Anand. Dipak was known for his kindness, generosity, and ability to bring people together.
Married in 1981, Jyoti and Dipak shared a remarkable 43 years of partnership, building a life filled with love, family, and adventure. They emigrated from Gujarat, India to the United States shortly after their marriage, living first in Belleville, New Jersey before moving to Algona, Iowa, where they began a successful career in the hotel industry. The couple later relocated to Rochelle, Illinois, which they called home for nearly three decades. Three years ago, the couple retired and moved to Allen, Texas.
Together, Jyoti and Dipak shared a love for travel, which they enjoyed with family and friends. Their adventurous spirit and unwavering devotion to their loved ones defined their lives and will be their ultimate legacy.
Jyoti and Dipak are survived by their sons, Chirag Patel (Rucha) of Wilmette, Illinois and Vishal Patel (Alka Kumar) of Atlanta, Georgia, their beloved grandchildren, Dhilan, Nolin, Safeena, and Kavir, Dipak’s father, Arvindbhai Patel, their siblings, and countless nieces, nephews and extended family members who they treasured. They are predeceased by Dipak's mother, Madhuben Patel, and Jyoti's parents, Motibhai Somabhai Patel and Shantaben Motibhai Patel.
