ROCHELLE — Larry J. Hammond, 72, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 at his home in Rochelle with his family by his side.  Larry was born on March 3, 1953 to Earl W. and Esther L. (McClain) Hammond in Rochelle.  On June 16, 1973, he married Mary Koebler in Rochelle.  Larry grew up in Rochelle and worked in construction most of his life.  

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary of Rochelle; daughter, Ann Finnestad of Scarboro, IL; son, Jacob Hammond of Rochelle; grandchildren: Cole Burkhart and Reese Finnestad; brother, Bill Hammond; two sisters: Dorothy (Laverne) Johnson of McLeansboro, IL, and Beulah (Rick) Skelt of Rochelle; and great granddaughter, Mia Parades.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by three brothers: Howard, Harold and Harlan Hammond and two sisters: Carol Goatcher and Barb Dodson.

There will be a memorial visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made in Larry’s memory to Serenity Hospice and Home.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
