The Rochelle Little League 9-11 Baseball All-Stars earned their first victory of the Illinois Little League Sub-State Championship at Wallingford Park this past Saturday, defeating Huntley by a score of 6-1. Rochelle concluded the tournament with a 16-7 loss against Streator on Sunday to finish 1-2 in the sub-state pool.

ROCK FALLS — The Rochelle Little League 9-11 Baseball All-Stars earned their first victory of the Illinois Little League Sub-State Championship at Wallingford Park this past Saturday, defeating Huntley by a score of 6-1. Rochelle concluded the tournament with a 16-7 loss against Streator on Sunday to finish 1-2 in the sub-state pool.
Huntley
Huntley notched an RBI single to lead 1-0 in the top of the first inning before Rochelle scored three times in the bottom half of the frame. Bane Workman and Ian Metzger hit back-to-back doubles to even the game, and Caden Goodwin gave Rochelle the lead with a two-run single that scored Metzger and Gavin Neale.
Metzger’s second double of the game scored Workman in the bottom of the second inning. Keagan Albers sent an RBI single to center to score Goodwin in the bottom of the third inning, and Deegan Schabacker scored after Workman reached on a fielder’s choice.
Streator
Streator started strong with six runs in the top of the first inning before Rochelle responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Bane Workman doubled and scored on a passed ball to get Rochelle on the board, and Caden Goodwin’s two-run double plated Ian Metzger and Keagan Albers. Seth Ramos hit an RBI single to center to score Goodwin.
After Streator added two runs in the top of the second inning, Deegan Schabacker slapped an RBI single to left that plated Workman in the bottom of the frame. Leading 8-5, Streator compiled three runs in the top of the third inning before Mark Green singled and scored on a passed ball for Rochelle in the bottom of the third inning.
Streator scored twice in the fourth inning to go ahead 13-6, with Albers singling and scoring on a wild pitch for Rochelle in the bottom of the frame. Streator sealed the victory with three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
