ROCHELLE — Loren C. Edwards, 74, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Loren was born July 16, 1944, in DeKalb, the son of Ralph “Bud” and Clara “Dolly” (Erickson) Edwards.
Loren was a 1962 graduate of Rochelle Township High School.  He was a full-time fireman for the City of Rochelle for 27 years, retiring in 2000. He also ran Edwards Construction since 1970. 
He is known by many for the love and comfort he gave during those years working for the fire department and his precise building skills, with no task too large to undertake.
For the past 14 years, his heart was in the Hub City Cruisers where he was not only a member but also served as president and vice president.
One of the things Loren loved most was spending time with his family and helping them out. He was always just a phone call away, not only for his family, but for his friends. He made an impact on anyone who was blessed to have met this wonderful man, and the loss of him will impact everyone forever. His family will miss him this year when they take their annual fishing trip to Wisconsin, but he promised them all he would be there. 
Loren is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary; mother, Clara “Dolly” Edwards; his son, Brian (Kim) Edwards; daughters, Carrie (Eric) Higby and Lynn (Rod) Burnette; grandchildren, Bryce and Jadyn Edwards, Kiley and Kendell Frankenberry, Gillian and Quinn Higby, Logan and Luke Burnette, and Garrett (Nichole) and Hannah Goodnite; great-granddaughter, Kinzley Goodnite; sister-in-law, Jane (Paul) Quitno, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews that he deeply adored. 
Loren is preceded in death by his father, Ralph “Bud” Edwards; his sisters, Bonnie Seigel and Cheri Schneider; his parents-in-law, Elmer and Anne Hooley, and brother-in-law, Dennis Hooley. 
Visitation will be Saturday, June 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following at 5 p.m. with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation care will be accorded following the service.
Memorials may be given in Loren’s memory to the Hub City Cruisers or the Rochelle Fire Department, two of his great loves.
