LOTS ground breaking ceremony set for Monday

DIXON — Lee-Ogle Transportation System announced it will be breaking ground next Monday, Sept. 16 at the main office location of the public transportation provider, 210 East Progress Drive, Dixon. The ground breaking ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m.
Earlier this summer, Sjostrom & Sons of Rockford, was the successful general contractor bidder for the project. The $1.02 million project will include the construction of a new 3,064 square foot single story, stand-alone maintenance garage and wash bay, as well as the addition of 26 parking spaces.  
Architectural services for the project will be provided by Gary W. Anderson Architects of Rockford with IMEG Engineering serving as the Civil, MEP and Structural Consultant and TSC Engineering serving as Geo-Technical Consultant.
Funding for the project was awarded to LOTS by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
LOTS provides public transportation to residents of Lee and Ogle Counties. During Fiscal Year 2019, LOTS provided 83,400 rides in the two-county region.

In addition, to the local public transit system, LOTS administers the Greyhound Connect route along I-88, between Chicago and Davenport, Iowa, with stops in Naperville/Aurora, DeKalb (NIU), Rochelle, Dixon and East Moline.
In late January, 2019, LOTS began administering a new Greyhound Connect route between Chicago and Danville, IL, encompassing stops along I-90, I-39 and I-74. The stops along the new route including Chicago, Elgin, Rockford, Rochelle, Oglesby, Normal, Champaign and Danville.
