CRESTON — Louis E. King, 96, of Creston, passed away on November 18th, 2024, in Rochelle.

Louis was born on September 25th, 1928, in Amboy, Illinois to Louis E. and Ruth (Sanders) King.  He went to school in a one room schoolhouse in Amboy and his teacher was his Aunt Rose.  He graduated from Amboy High School in 1945.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army as a tractor scraper specialist.  He was discharged as a Specialist 3 in January of 1956. He married Darlene Arseneault on November 24th, 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle.  He worked as a farmer his entire life and often said he never worked a day in his life because he loved farming. He served on the Creston Grade School Board of Education for 24 years, serving as the president for many of those years.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents Louis & Ruth and his sisters, Mary, Helen, and Fran.

Louis is survived by his wife Darlene of Creston, 8 children: Ed King (Kim), Paul King (Barb), Chuck King, Carole Hurley (David), Theresa Bickers (Art), Joanne King, Patti McDaniel (Reid), and Joe King (Aimee); 17 Grandchildren: Jenna, Cody, Steven, Cindy, Emma, Christine, James, Joe, Katie, Jodie, Jamie, Jake, Jacie, Everett, Maggie, Beckett, and Archie; 13 Great Grandchildren: Preslee, Bella, Gianna, Louis, James, Charles, Xane, Harlowe, Ford, Lenore, Monroe, Owen, and Billie

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25th, 2024, from 10:00am – 12:00pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 244 Kelley Drive, Rochelle, IL 61068.  A funeral mass will begin immediately afterwards at 12:00pm with burial to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle. A luncheon at the St. Patrick Parish Center will follow the burial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle.
