Man arrested on several charges following traffic stop

On Dec. 19 at approximately 7:11 p.m., deputies initiate a traffic stop on Interstate 39 at mile marker 103 southbound. After further investigation Jason Smith, 38, of Durand, was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and no valid driver’s license. Smith was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Dec. 19 at approximately 7:31 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Lighthouse Road and Watertown Road. After investigation, deputies placed James Edgar II, 67, of Oregon, under arrest for no valid driver’s license. Edgar was additionally issued citations for no valid registration, no front registration plate, failure to transfer registration, operating an uninsured vehicle and speeding. Edgar was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Dec. 19 at approximately 8:08 p.m., following a traffic stop on I-39 at mile marker 104, deputies arrested Abel A. Cardenas, 29, of Rockford, for no valid driver’s license and Pedro Cardenas-Alonso, 42, of Rockford, for a valid warrant. Both were transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held in lieu of bond.
