ROCHELLE — Mark Vincent Michael Maliszewski, 61, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 1, 2019.  
Mark was born Sunday, Sept. 1, 1957 to William “Moe” and Rose Mary (Lilla) Maliszewski in Winona, Minnesota.  He was baptized on Sept. 15, 1957 and had his first communion on April 25, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. He was confirmed on Dec. 9, 1969 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle.  
Mark was a 1975 graduate of Rochelle Township High School. On Saturday, Sept. 22, 1984, he married Brenda Metzger at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Mark held a variety of jobs over the years.  He began his work career with Varvel Standard Station, then he moved on to Sawicki Motor Company.  He worked for Price Brothers Midwest from 1981 to 2003 while bartending part-time at the Hub Lounge. He began employment with the City of Rochelle in 2003 where he was currently employed at the diesel plant.  
Mark played Little League and later coached and served on the Little League board.  He was a member of the R.T.H.S. Athletic Booster Club. Mark was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he currently served on the Board of Elders. He enjoyed following all of his girls’ endeavors from high school athletics and academics to their professional lives. Spending time in their breezeway at home with his wife was an especially favorite time of his.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Moe and Rose Mary Maliszewski; in-laws, Rudolf and Else Metzger; both maternal and paternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Karlheinz Metzger and niece, Lilli Anna Moore.
Mark is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Brenda; daughters, Roxanne Luise of DeKalb and Elise Rosemarie of Rochelle; brothers, Jim (Karen) Maliszewski of Rockford and Joey (Jennifer) Maliszewski of West Salem, Wisconsin; four sisters-in-law, Hanna Hasan of Fair Oaks, California, Karin Metzger, Urs (Rodney) Rainwater and Lois (Jim) Moore all of Rochelle; Tante Klara Hofmann of Lauffen, Germany; several cousins, nieces and nephews; many lifetime friends and Mr. Biebs, the beagle.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 10 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1415 10 Ave., Rochelle, with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, and Monday from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.  Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.  
Memorials may be made in Mark’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church or R.T.H.S. Lady Hubs Softball.
