ROCHELLE — Mary Ann Johnson, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. Mary Ann was born on October 10, 1935 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of Louis and Pauline (Probst) Koechig. On June 29, 1952, she married Donald Walter Johnson in Hernando, Mississippi; he preceded her on October 20, 2020. Mary is also preceded by her parents, her son, Donald Jr. On February 24, 2022; four brothers: Gene, Robert, Lloyd and Leo Koechig and four sisters: Shirley Paul, Lucille Lee, Lenora Pawlak and Imogene Mattson.
Mary Ann was a hard worker. She worked for Caron’s International, Del Monte followed by Swift Meat Packing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary Ann also enjoyed playing slot machines, going out to eat and in her younger years, shopping.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Terry (Tom) Harvell of Rochelle; daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson of Rochelle; two grandchildren: Kim (Greg) Johnson of Sycamore, IL and Brian (Lindsay) Johnson of Kirkland, IL and four great grandchildren: Madeline Hanson and Emma, Rylee and Hudson Johnson.
The visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Brandon Arneson officiating. Burial is at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial will be established.
