Traffic was rerouted on Interstate 39 Monday afternoon following an accident involving a passenger car and a semi tractor/trailer.

Two Rockford men died after an accident on Interstate 39 Monday.
The Illinois State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash July 1 at 2:38 p.m. on Interstate 39 southbound at milepost 112 that shut down the section of interstate for several hours.
A gray 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Moo Ler, 50, of Rockford, was driving northbound on Interstate 39 at milepost 112 when he lost control and crossed through the center median into the southbound lanes where the Camry was struck by a truck tractor/semi-trailer driven by Kenneth B. Miller, 51, of Owensboro, Kentucky. Ler and his passenger, Leonardo Lozano, 51, of Rockford, were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ogle County coroner. Miller was uninjured.
Interstate 39 was re-routed for approximately four hours.
The ISP was assisted on scene by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Ogle County coroner, Stillman Valley Fire Department, Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department, Illinois Department of Transportation and Maggio’s Towing.
