Museum asking residents to help document history

ROCHELLE – The current COVID-19 pandemic is one that will go down in history and the Flagg Township Museum is asking residents to document their experiences now, for future generations.

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Flagg Township Museum has established a new Gmail account as a way for anybody to share their thoughts and experiences while dealing with the current situation. COVID-19 and the impact it is having on the world is sure to make its mark in history and the museum knows how important it is to document experiences from the people facing it first-hand.

“We are in the middle of a historic battle,” said Jan Devore, director of the Flagg Township Museum, in a press release. “As we face this individually and collectively, we need to save our stories about this world-wide pandemic—save this history for history.”

The museum is asking anybody who would like to share their experiences to send them to flaggtownshipmuseumcovid19@gmail.com. The experiences can be anything from personal thoughts, what adjustments have been made to daily life, activities done during the shelter in place order or anything that person would like to share.

All the stories and information sent to the museum will be collected and documented as an important part of the community’s history during this truly difficult and demanding time. The museum would also like to remind people that one day, even COVID-19 will be history.
