On May 16 at 4:11 p.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident involving a single motorcycle.  The motorcycle was traveling northbound in the 2,000 block of North Illinois Route 251 when the driver lost control and entered the east side ditch and struck a culvert.  The motorcycle continued north and then struck a utility pole.  The driver was taken to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford for serious injuries. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department, MD 1 Services, and Blackhawk Fire Protection Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.

Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: May 16-19, 2025

OREGON — On May 16 at 4:11 p.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident involving a single motorcycle.  The motorcycle was traveling northbound in the 2,000 block of North Illinois Route 251 when the driver lost control and entered the east side ditch and struck a culvert.  The motorcycle continued north and then struck a utility pole.  The driver was taken to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford for serious injuries. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department, MD 1 Services, and Blackhawk Fire Protection Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.

On May 17 at approximately 12:13 a.m. deputies responded to a driving complaint in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251 in rural Davis Junction. After an investigation, Brandon W. Smith, 47, of Holcomb, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Smith was also cited for driving over the posted speed limit, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Smith was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On May 17 at 3:10 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 5,000 block of South Illinois Route 2. After a brief investigation, Alexis Dresen, 24, of Rockford, was arrested for driving while license suspended. Dresen also had an active Stephenson County warrant. Dresen was taken to the Ogle County Jail to be processed. Dresen was also cited for improper display of registration.

On May 17 at 6:40 p.m. deputies responded to a check welfare at Lindenwood and Mulford Road. After a brief investigation, Karen J. Johnson, 67, of Rockford, was placed under arrest on an active Winnebago County warrant. Johnson was transferred into the custody of the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.

On May 18 at 6:22 p.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at Linn Street and 2nd Street in Kings. An initial investigation determined a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Linn Street before beginning to turn onto 2nd Street. A Honda Accord, driven by Quinten J. Fletcher, 19, of Rockton, was also traveling westbound on Linn Street when it struck the rear of the Toyota. The Toyota came to rest on the south side of the roadway, and the Honda came to rest on the north side of the roadway. Fletcher was later transported to Rochelle Community Hospital with minor injuries. Fletcher was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and was given a future court date. Ogle County Deputies were assisted by Rochelle EMS, Oregon Fire Department, and Stillman Valley Fire Department.

On May 18 at approximately 12:11 a.m. deputies responded to a hit and run in the 500 block of West Fulton Street in Polo. Deputies located the offending vehicle in the 600 block of West Fulton Street. After investigation, deputies placed Christopher J. Heath, 36, of Polo under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Heath was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and leaving the scene/property damage. Heath was transported to the Ogle County Jail. Heath was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On May 19 at approximately 4:20 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Illinois Route 72 and Kishwaukee Road. After investigation, deputies placed Philip Futrell, 30, of Stillman Valley under arrest for aggravated driving while license revoked (class-four felony), driving while license suspended without a BAIID (class-four felony), driving while license suspended, and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Futrell was additionally issued a citation for improper lane usage.  Futrell was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.  

On May 19 at approximately 8:35 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop a mile into Winnebago County on Illinois Route 251. After investigation, deputies placed Zaid A.O. Valtierra, 21, of Rockford under arrest for driving while license suspended. Valtierra was additionally issued citations for operating an uninsured vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol/driver. Valtierra was released on a notice to appear at the scene and given a future court date.

On May 19 at 8:03 p.m. deputies, assisted by Byron Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Blackhawk Drive, Byron. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Brandon Boatwright, 34, of Rockford, for driving while license suspended. Boatwright was released with a notice to appear. Boatwright was also issued citations for suspended registration and operate motor vehicle without insurance.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
