As your city manager, my role is to serve as the chief administrative officer for Rochelle.  My responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the city and ensuring that policies set by the mayor and city council are implemented impartially and effectively.  My position can best be described as a critical bridge between city staff, residents, and our elected leadership, fostering collaboration and alignment to enhance the quality of life in our community.

Supporting our staff is a central part of my responsibilities. I work to create a positive and supportive environment where employees are empowered to perform at their best. This includes providing clear direction, encouraging professional development, and promoting innovation and teamwork. I ensure that departments are properly resourced and guided, and I help staff remain focused on delivering high-quality public services that reflect the goals of the community and the vision of the city council.

Engaging with residents is equally important. I strive to maintain open lines of communication with the public, listening to their concerns, responding to their needs, and building trust through transparency and accountability. Whether through public meetings, speaking at and attending community events, or direct outreach, I work to ensure that city government remains accessible and responsive to Rochelle residents.  By fostering strong relationships with residents, I am confident that I can better understand their priorities and concerns and help tailor city initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the community.

In supporting elected officials, I provide them with accurate and timely information to help them make informed decisions. I offer professional, unbiased recommendations while respecting their role in setting policy. I coordinate the implementation of council directives and manage strategic planning processes that align with their long-term goals. By maintaining a strong, cooperative relationship with the city council, I help ensure cohesive leadership and effective governance.

Ultimately, my role as city manager is to be a steward of the community’s vision, mission and values.  As your chief appointed official, I am dedicated to continuous improvement, fiscal responsibility, and long-term planning that promotes sustainable growth, equity, and community well-being. By aligning the efforts of staff, responding to residents, and supporting elected officials, I help create a city that is safe, vibrant, and welcoming — a place where people are proud to live, work, and thrive.
