ROCHELLE — Peggy Lucille Futrell, 82, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at her home in Rochelle with family by her side.  Peggy was born on January 28, 1942, the daughter of Harris and Mae (Fugate) Edds in Rose Hill, Virginia.  On May 8, 1965, she married David Allen Futrell in Rochelle.  She worked for Caron’s International for 34 years and then worked at Kraft until she retired.

Peggy cherished the time she spent with her family.  She enjoyed flying with her son-in-law, David Hayes. She was a very competitive checker player and loved playing with her grandchildren, especially her grandson, Trevor.

Peggy is survived by her husband, David of Rochelle; daughter, Cherie (David) Hayes of Steward, IL; two brothers: Tom Edds of Rose Hill, VA and Bill (Janet) Edds of Kingsport, TN; two sisters: Virginia (Bill) Pauley of Rose Hill, VA and Betty (Jerry) Boehle of Rochelle; and five grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Wyatt, Kassidie (Zach Taylor) Futrell, Kelsie Futrell, Lucas (Raynah) Hayes and Trevor (Bri Smith) Hayes.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard Futrell and two brothers: Joe and Paul Edds.

The visitation will be from 11:00 - 12:00 noon, Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 noon, Friday with Judy Williams officiating.  Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Peggy’s memory to the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
