ROCHELLE – Petition packets are available for three seats in April’s Consolidated Primary Election, according to Rochelle City Clerk Sue Messer.
At Monday night’s Rochelle City Council meeting, Messer said four-year full term council positions will be on the ballot. Residents in Rochelle who want their name on the next city election for council can pick up a candidate packet at the city clerk’s office at Rochelle City Hall, 420 N. 6th St. Petitions may begin being circulated as of Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Terms coming to an end include council members Dan McDermott, Kathryn Shaw-Dickey and Don Burke.
There need to be 13 candidates on the ballot in order to have a Consolidated Primary Election on Feb. 23, 2021.
The Consolidated General Election will be held on April 6, 2021.
Candidates can file their petitions between Nov. 16 and Nov. 20 and on Nov. 23 at Rochelle City Hall. The clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 16; 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 17 through Nov. 20, and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 23.
Candidates must be a qualified elector of the municipality and have one year residency in the municipality preceding the election.
