ROCHELLE — A pilot escaped injury Monday after he crashed his Cessna while landing at Rochelle Municipal Airport. At about 11:30 a.m. while attempting to land, the pilot from Wisconsin lost control of the small plane and crashed onto the runway.
According to Rochelle Municipal Airport manager Mike Hudetz, the winds abruptly changed direction resulting what is known as a ground loop. Hudetz said the plane appears totaled, but the pilot walked away from the incident.
