DEKALB — Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma will conduct a Silent Auction of five handmade quilts on Saturday, Oct. 12, as part of the 9th Annual Oak Crest Arts and Crafts Fest.
The auction will be held at Oak Crest Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive in DeKalb, with bidding starting at 10 a.m. and closing at 1 p.m. The quilts are hand pieced, hand embroidered, hand appliqued, and/or hand quilted, full/queen size. Proceeds from the Quilt Auction will benefit the group’s scholarship fund which was established to assist women majoring in education in their junior year at NIU.
Over the years, Alpha Chapter has awarded over 40 scholarships for a total of more than $35,000. Applications for the annual scholarship of $2,000 are available through NIU.
Delta Kappa Gamma is a professional society of women educators; Alpha Chapter members are residents of DeKalb, Lee, and Ogle Counties and teach in or are retired from area school districts and early education programs, as well as NIU.
