Rochelle Police raise money for Special Olympics Illinois

ROCHELLE – Members of the Rochelle Police Department were on the roof and in the drive thru of Dunkin Donuts in town on Friday from 5 a.m. to noon raising money for Special Olympics Illinois.

RPD has taken part in the tradition for three years now and has a long history of supporting Special Olympics Illinois.

“We do the Torch Run and anything we can do to benefit Special Olympics,” RPD Chief Eric Higby said. “That's one of the causes that law enforcement has historically paired up with. We love it. We've had a lot of good interactions with people driving through. It's the same as National Night Out. They see us in a different light and not on a call. It's great for us to be out."
