Rockabilly band makes return to Jamboree Aug. 9

MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Jamboree announces that New York City rockabilly artists, Kyle Lacy and the Harlem River Noise, will be returning to the band shell on Aug. 9, with their free two-hour concert starting at 7 p.m.
Lacy and his band conjures up a potion taking you home to the roots of 1950’s rock ‘n’ roll while creating something fresh and bluesy- think Buddy Holly meets Gary Clark Jr.
Armed with an elegantly raucous voice, a ‘50s grit guitar style and a keen knack for “in the moment” lyrical honesty, Lacy uses his hepcat showmanship to keep his audience grooving down to the last beat. The band features Lacy on vocals and guitar, Cody Gibson playing upright bass, Boyce Griffith on tenor sax and Jesse Chevan on drums.

Their wild rockabilly show is packed with foot stomping rockabilly, blues, and originals that get a crowd on its feet, dancing, and interacting with them. This high-energy show will make the folks want to stick around and keep dancing.
Starting at 6 p.m. the Mount Morris Firefighter’s Association will be serving walking tacos with all the toppings. Drinks will include Pepsi products, water and Berryview Orchard’s famous aronia berry lemonade smoothies. All profits stay in Mount Morris and benefit the firefighter’s association, which has been a part of Mount Morris since 1889.
The Campus will be extra festive that evening as it is opening night of the 4th Annual National Strawsculpting Competition, which will have new sculptures on display all around the Campus until Aug. 24. The Airbrush Art Show continues at the Encore Old Sandstone Gallery next door until the end of the month, open from 6 to 9:30 p.m., featuring original works by local Artists. Other food and craft vendors will likely be on site as well, including Jen’s Artisan Breads, featuring many different varieties of scrumptious fresh baked bread.
Be sure to come uptown early to visit the Mount Morris Community Farmers Market, open from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday through October, located at the corner of Illinois Route 64 and Wesley Avenue.
In the event of rain, the whole show moves to the Moose Lodge at 101 Moose Drive, at the same times.
