ROCHELLE — Rosemary Edwards, 69, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
Rosemary was born on Nov. 19, 1949 to Elmer E. and Anne C. (Schimanski) Hooley in Rochelle. She was a 1967 graduate of Rochelle Township High School. On Dec. 27, 1969, she married Loren Conrad Edwards at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle.
For the past 11 years, Rosemary has been the secretary for the Hub City Cruisers, a group that she and Loren really enjoyed together.
Rosemary was a sweet genuine person, she loved her family deeply,
Including her recently deceased husband, Loren of 50 years, she also has been an advocate for helping people and serving her community from day one. From her phone company and banking days and then on to serving on the hub city cruisers and heritage festival boards, she tirelessly served people.
She was always thinking of pleasing everyone she came in contact with, and was very active in their grandchildren’s lives. She made every sporting event possible and was not a fair weather fan, she was there for us all.
She loved spending time in her flower garden around the pond, and playing endless card games and board games with their grandkids.
She was a very faithful family first type of woman and will be forever missed by us all. Although the family finds comfort in her being with their dad, papa, and siblings, she left a huge hole in her passing.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Brian (Kim) Edwards; daughters, Carrie (Eric) Higby and Lynn (Rod) Burnette; mother-in-law, Clara “Dolly” Edwards; sister, Jane (Paul) Quitno; grandchildren, Bryce and Jadyn Edwards, Kiley and Kendell Frankenberry, Gillian and Quinn Higby, Logan and Luke Burnette, and Garrett and Hannah Goodnite; great-granddaughter, Kinzley Goodnite; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband, Loren, on June 2, 2019; brother, Dennis Hooley; her father-in-law, Ralph “Bud” Edwards; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Seigel and Cheri Schneider.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following at 5 p.m. with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cremation care will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be given in Rosemary’s memory to the Hub City Cruisers or Serenity Hospice and Home.
