ROCHELLE — At its monthly meeting Monday, the Rochelle Township High School Board of Education recognized RTHS Librarian Ann Marie Jinkins in its yearly retiree recognition. Jinkins will retire at the end of the school year after 33 years at RTHS. She's been RTHS's librarian for 22 years.
Jinkins started at RTHS in 1992 as a Spanish teacher before moving into the English department at the old RTHS building. She took over as librarian in 2004.
"Her legacy is one of somebody who has tirelessly advocated for that library space and to have it open and accessible and reflective of all of our students," RTHS District Superintendent Jason Harper said. "She has a really well-established student worker program. She has established extracurriculars such as the Fiction Addiction student literature club, a crafting club, a Lego club, and a podcast club. She's done a great job and has been an integral member of our staff. She's been phenomenal and we're definitely going to miss her."
Personnel
The board unanimously approved personnel changes including the resignation of Amy Creuziger (theater arts director, effective June 30) and the 2025-2026 employment of Judy Fulgencio (part-time school counselor assistant) and Jack Patting (volunteer wrestling coach).
Awards
RTHS Assistant Principal Brett Zick made a presentation to the board on recent staff awards. Susan Naylor recently received the 2025 Northwest Illinois IPA Teacher Leadership Award. Deanna Jacobs recently received the RTHS Student Council Extra Effort Award, and Rachel Plock received the RTHS Education Association Teacher of the Year Award.
EOY
Zick detailed end-of-year dates at RTHS. Seniors' last day if they waived finals was May 16. Senior finals were May 19 and 20. Final exams for grades 9-11 are May 22-23 and 27. Graduation practice will take place Friday at 1 p.m. Graduation will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the football field weather permitting. Summer school begins on June 2.
Budget
The board will hold a public hearing for its amended budget at 5:20 p.m. ahead of its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16.
