ROCHELLE — On Saturday. Nov. 23, the Rochelle Township High School Speech Team hosted the RTHS JV Speech Tournament. Rochelle placed third in the team standings and the following individuals earned finalist honors:
Isabella Biggs - Tournament Champion - Oratorical Declamation. Abby Losoya - Tournament Champion - Poetry Reading. Derek Swartz - Tournament Champion - Humorous Interpretation. Alex Soto - third place - Oratorical Declamation. Noah LeFevre - fourth place - Humorous Interpretation. Rafaela Canaan - fourth place - Special Occasion Speaking. Rafaela Canaan - fifth place - Extemporaneous Speaking. Derek Swartz/Theia Venuso - fifth place - Dramatic Duet Acting. Derek Swartz/Noah LeFevre - fifth place - Humorous Duet Acting. Lydia Von Haden - fifth place - Dramatic Interpretation. Paola Guijosa - sixth place - Original Comedy.
Speaker of the week is Abby Losoya.
The team will be at DeKalb on Dec. 7 for their next competition.
