DEKALB — On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Rochelle Township High School speech team took fifth place at the very competitive DeKalb Corn Classic. Individuals who earned finalist honors included:

Next in division: Z Brizuela, first place, Informative Speaking. Khalil Winston, second place, Original Comedy. Derek Swartz/Aletheia Venuso, second place, Dramatic Duet Acting. Emma Kennay, third place, Oratorical Declamation. Derek Swartz, third place         , Humorous Interpretation. Bobbi Henning, fourth place, Original Comedy. Sophia Losoya, fourth place, Prose Reading. Lydia Von Haden, seventh place, Dramatic Interpretation.

Novice division: Mercy Hunley, first place, Radio Speaking. Emma Kennay, third place, Special Occasion Speaking. Rafaela Canaan, fourth place, Special Occasion Speaking. Paola Guijosa, fifth place, Original Comedy. Sophia Stein/Mackenzie Taylor, sixth place, Humorous Duet Acting. Kara Hull, sixth place, Humorous Interpretation.
