ROCHELLE — Sharon A. Gigante, age 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Presence St. Anne Center in Rockford surrounded by her family. She was born on November 10, 1945 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Maurice and Elizabeth (Gaspari) Bloom. She married Armando Gigante on August 12, 1972 in Rockford, he preceded her in death on June 4, 2009. She is also preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Karen, and brother, Peter and his wife, Cindy.
Sharon graduated from Muldoon Catholic High School, and retired from Eaton Corporation. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle and was deeply devoted to our Lord and her family. Sharon was truly an inspiration to all who knew her, because in spite of her long illness and numerous hospitalizations, she never complained and was always a joy to be around.
Survived by her 3 children: Bettina Gigante, Mary Gigante and Michael (Christina) Gigante; 3 grandchildren: Morgan Hoffstead, Grant Hoffstead, and Enzo Gigante; 3 sisters, Alice Bloom, Joanne (Paul) Erickson, and Mary Jo (Duane) Chambers; brother, Chuck Bloom; Aunt Cornelia Gastner and several cousins, nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the employees and friends at St. Anne’s who became our extended family.
Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 10:50 A.M. prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded by Unger Horner Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
