OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office issued 171 citations including three impaired driving arrests and 12 arrests for unlicensed, suspended or revoked drivers during the recent Thanksgiving enforcement effort.
Sheriff’s Deputies also took the following enforcement actions: three felony drug arrests, two felony suspended/revoked license arrests, 20 citations to uninsured motorists, 83 speeding citations, five misdemeanor drug arrests, 10 citations for registration violations and one seat belt violation citation
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up. The enforcement campaign took place from Nov. 19-29.
During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
