ASHTON — It is with great sadness that our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great grandma, Shirley Vera (Engelkes) Frahm has peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 in her home with her loving family by her side.
Shirley was born on February 25, 1939 in Chana, IL to Albert “Bill” and Vera (Foss) Engelkes. She lived in Rochelle, IL and Ashton, IL for the majority of her life. In November of 1957, she married Randall “Randy” Frahm and adopted two wonderful children, Mark R. Frahm and Tammy S. Frahm.
She spent many summers with her family enjoying the wilderness at her cabin in Ontario, Canada. She was even able to take all of her grandchildren there. She married Stanley J. Valiulis in April of 1994 and spent many winters in Las Vegas, Nevada with him. Together they loved going to casinos and shopping. She also loved taking all of her grandchildren shopping.
Shirley was a long term member of Rochelle Moose Club, Rochelle VFW, and Rochelle Country Club where she enjoyed playing Euchre with all of her friends, and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the pool on hot summer days. When she moved back to Ashton, IL in 2015, she loved spending time with her great grandchildren, Jacob and Madelyn. She enjoyed riding her scooter to "the store" to have cocktails with her friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ronald Engelkes, both of her loving husbands, Randall “Randy” Frahm and Stanley J. Valiulis, and her step children: Joan, Carl, and Daniel Valiulis.
Shirley is survived by her siblings: Marvin (Margo) Engelkes, Irma (Mike) Seaworth, and Sharon (Tom) Kirchner; her children: Mark (Peggy) Frahm, and Tammy (Anthony) Schopp; her step children: Tom, Mary, Peter, Karla, Julie, and Stan Valiulis; her eight grandchildren: Jordan Frahm, Nicholas Frahm, Randa Schopp, Amanda (Joseph) Kearns, Ricky, John, and Clayton Bakosh, and Kyle (Christen) Schopp and her two great grandchildren: Jacob Schopp and Madelyn Kearns.
The visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 803 Paddock Avenue, Ashton, IL with Pastor Joan Scheffler officiating. Burial will follow at Paynes Point Cemetery, Oregon, IL. A memorial will be established at a later date. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
