PLANO — The Rochelle Lady Hub and Plano High School softball teams combined to raise over $100 for the Organization for Autism Awareness this season. The Lady Hubs, who also collected art supplies to be donated to the transitions program at Plano, faced off with the Reapers on the road Thursday evening.

It was the final game of the regular season for the Lady Hubs, who finished with four hits in a 7-0 loss to Plano.  Senior Lauren Dyer went 2 for 3 with one single and one double for the Lady Hubs (9-20, 0-10 Interstate 8), who will head west for the IHSA 3A Regional Semifinals at Dixon on Tuesday, May 27 at 4:30 p.m. Rochelle will be the No. 7 seed and face the No. 2 seed Sterling in the semifinal round. The winner will advance to face either No. 3 seed Belvidere North or No. 5 seed Dixon.

Plano (8-19-1, 1-12 Kishwaukee River) scored twice on two hits in the bottom of the first inning, where Emily Klein reached on an error and Cami Nunez ripped an RBI single on the infield to put the Reapers ahead 2-0. A trio of Rochelle errors and an RBI groundout from Nunez led to two Plano runs in the bottom of the third inning, giving the Reapers a 4-0 advantage before Ella Stotler’s sacrifice bunt during the bottom of the fourth inning brought home another Plano run.

Lindsey Cocks blasted a solo homer and Chesney Schimandle slapped an RBI groundout to third to put Plano ahead 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Dyer pitched six innings for the Lady Hubs, striking out four batters and holding the Reapers to five hits and two earned runs.
