ROCHELLE — Spring Lake Pool was evacuated and closed and power outages were seen due to a downed power pole near the waterfall at the entrance of the pool facility early Thursday afternoon, Rochelle Municipal Utilities and Flagg Rochelle Community Park District Facebook posts said.

The downed power pole caused an outage in the central and southern portions of town, RMU said. Utility crews and Rochelle Police and Fire Department personnel were on scene Thursday afternoon. Customers in the southwest quadrant of town south of the railroad tracks and west of Illinois Route 251 were expected to be without power until approximately 8 p.m. Thursday as crews made repairs. Residents are asked to avoid the area.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Rochelle Fire and Police and Rochelle Municipal Utilities for their quick response this afternoon,” a park district Facebook post said. “We’ll share an update as soon as we know when the pool can reopen. In the meantime, we invite you to cool off and stay active at The REC Center! Thank you for your understanding.”
